OUR GROUP POWERPOINT PRESENTATION

High end fashion garments are often being known for their luxurious merchandises and prices that not everybody could afford. Brands that belongs to this tittle are

• Chanel, 
• Gucci, 
• Miu Miu, 
• Versace,
• Armani, 
• Dolce & Gabbana, 
• Prada, 
• Dior, 
• Fendi, 
• Burberry,
• Louis Vuitton

These brands became 'high-end' because of respective reasons. The main reason these brands could reach that tittle would probably be because they made a historical change in trends or a particular garment which left an impact in the history.

We chose this particular coat because it looked feminine and comfortable. However, it would not be suitable for the weather in Singapore because of its humid and dry climate.

This garment from Valentino looked sleek and appropriate for a couple of events like an office meeting, an evening dinner or even a party. However, since silk repels water and it would be pretty warm to wear it outside especially on a sunny day. The fabric would ripple and pucker particularly in areas prone to sweat stains and the texture would be rough as it dries.

This is from MiuMiu's exclusive 2017 Spring/Summer Collection

This pink Cropped Embellished Crepe Jacket was made of 100% Viscose. Its lining is 100% polyester. The details that can be seen here is the peterpan collar that looks feminine and chic. It also have sparkling crystal-encrusted buttons that goes down along the center front. Two patch pockets can be seen on both side of the jacket and there is a seam on the center back and seam allowance at the bottom.

This is Valentino's 2017 Resort Collection

This is a Printed silk crepe de chine shirt

Its Cuba's rich and made of 100% silk. Its printed patterns consists of palms, parrots and white ginger lily. It has black piping and glossy buttons on the center front.

It also has a placket and a Notched Lapel

Walking through shops of high end fashion labels like this made me feel overwhelmed by their exclusive fabric and the quality of the garments.  The prices may be in a range where it could be too expensive and not affordable for most people. However, the designs and the way these garments have been put together attracts people with their bedazzled construction. From normal button down shirts, to jackets, to coats and outerwear.

Nights gown/ dresses for dinner

I designed modest outfits to show the feminity of a body even with fully covered clothes. This fashion would be the most suitable for muslim women who wear hijabs. 

I honestly admired lace and embroided details because it looks elegant, feminine and beautiful.

OBSERVATIONAL DRAWING

During the observational drawing, we are told to look for the details that are obvious and also the main focus of the garment. We chose a wedding gown with lace details on the bust and hip area. At the skirt area, there were pleats which falls all the way to the hem line of the gown.

Here are some of my try-outs of illustrating the gown and other garments with zoomed-in details.

GARMENT 1:

I did some other  detailed illustrations with different garments that I've seen in the magazines 

wrapped top, with bell sleeves (kimono inspired)
loose-fitting, floor length pants

the corset is being worn outside of the garment instead of inside.

i  tried to focus the details on the metal feathers of this garment piece by McQueen

the hemline of the skirt inside the coat has pleats. It is made of silk

this is the detail of the golden feather coat which has a high collar that goes around the back of the head.

GARMENT 3 :

This loose fitted draw-string blouse-dress was a combination of my own clothes from my wardrobe. The hem line of the skirt has embroidery details and the skirt is being slashed in the middle followed by an irregular knife pleats surrounding the dress.

As a fashion designer, I ought to be familiar and assure of the simple steps to develop a garment. The picture above shows a basic of grain lines. As taught, grain lines are the movement in the pattern of a garment in which they are laid on the fabric.

In the first lesson, i learnt a couple of things and went on to research more about it. 

Firstly, our class discussed about the contemporary fashion that is present today. There are a number of clothing that are trending up till this day. Ripped jeans, stone wash, acid wash, boot-cut, high-waist and etc.

Next, I was introduced to the names of the different types of sleeves, skirts, pants and even collars. Each specific design or pattern are given a unique name which rightfully deserved its name because of the way they look or how people wear them and make them look.

It is important as a fashion designer that we memorize the names of the different types of garments. With that, we would be more professional when handling different types of styles so that it would be easier for us when we want to design our own garments.
